Still

"Learning how to be still, to really be still and let life happen - that stillness becomes a radiance." Morgan Freeman People keep saying that they can't sit still. Are we addicted to being busy? The constant go, the organized chaos of it all, and being productive - is that where we derive personal value from? There is something to be said about us being incapable of being still. This need to go, go go - where does it comes from, and what do we let it drive us. Much like most things in life, stillness is a learned practice. It takes patience, diligence, and persistence to normalize being still. Especially in a society that communicates to us that stillness is wasted time that we could be doing something else, when in actuality, stillness is part and parcel to us showing up in all other capacities. Stillness let's us breathe, be where we are, and take note of how we're doing/feeling. Stillness let's us pay attention more closely, notice the world and pe...

Best Years

The 20s are all about living it up. There is no time like the present and time is of the essence now more than ever. All of those cliché things that people tell you about living in the moment, being where you are, and enjoying yourself ... just so happen to be true. College is one of those unique places and times in your life where you have little to worry about other than yourself. Your responsibilities are limited and your possibilities are seemingly endless. Doing nothing and being content with it, every once in a while. It's normal and completely necessary. Living this college life gets to be overwhelming and sometimes you need a break. Call your friends, get silly and do it your way (but don't get crazy). It's all fun and games ... You probably know how I feel about hanging out during the middle of the week ... things that never happen. If you're not in my schedule, on the agenda or in the docket then you're barking up the wrong tree, ain't nobody (aka me) got time for that spontaneous fun crap. But actually though I've somehow become the perpetually busy kid who doesn't have time for fun. I've like aged a whole decade in the past 5 months, they call they presidential syndrome. Look at president Obama from the beginning of his term until n...
