How to Build Better Boys

Image
The 20s are all about coming into your own. You know what's funny - how much time we spend trying to fit in and feel comfortable when in reality we are most at peace with ourselves when we stop trying. When we let our guards down, cease striving to be what we think others want us to be, and embrace ourselves we see how extraneous all other attempts at finding us had ever been. We already know who we are, we just have to accept it. Being you should be the easiest thing you ever get to do in your life and it's a real privilege to be able to so, one that too few people get to enjoy. Take advantage of it and let you're most you  you on through. This is how to build a better boy.  One thing I am always thankful for about my parents was that they let me do my own thing in figuring out my interests. They ignored the social pressures to force children to adhere to this absurd binary that delineates everything as male or female. Toys, colors, clothes, TV shows and all the res...

I Choose You

The 20s are all about being the center of your own universe. There's nothing wrong with it, of course you are the center of your own life. The thing is everyone  else thinks the world revolves around them as well. What happens when two worlds collide or just people interact? Who's world becomes more important, who's world has more people, and what has society told us to make us think this way. Time to debunk some of societies affirmations. Prepare yourself, I choose you.  The most important lesson I've learned from college (outside of all the super-pertinent knowledge I've received from my professors) is that our experience is nothing but our own. That is when people (look I'm doing it right now) speak about almost anything it's in general times. They make grotesque end-all-be-all matter of fact, holier than thou statements when in reality you should not and cannot speak for a group. Bring whatever you're talking about down to Earth. Make it persona...

Hot and Bothered

Image
Being a teenager is all about bracing the heat. The past weekend has been one of the hottest on record like ever. It was so hot, and BTW, will continue to keep burning up in this heat wave, that the eastern seaboard was threatened to overload and cause a massive power outage. Like dang, some people need to sacrifice their air conditioning so the rest of us can keep dry, all I know is something's got to give. These days, going outside is like a death sentence, you can't breath, you start getting wet with sweat all over, and the sun is bright. We need to get back that damn ozone, Al Gore was right. It was so hot, this CNN reporter literally fried an egg - that's no joke. Sun screen my ass, if you're going to get, you'll be burnt. Who knows anything anymore, we all are hot and bothered. The summer means the longest days, and it's getting hotter and hotter. It's like literally hell on Earth, and there's nothing you can do about it. The other day I walked...

Gnarly Bro

Image
Being a teenager is about hanging out with your friends and having the greatest times knonwn to man. Summer is the perfect time to try something new, get out of your comfort zone and hang out with your buds. Everybody gets tired of hearing the same old stories, so why not go out and make some new ones. As you all know, I give literally everyone a nickname when I see things, either based on their name or their actions. Some of my favorites, Falcon Face, Pretty Boy, So Chill, Babyface, Deuces, College Babe, Jakey Bear and Chasey Chase-em. There's a story behind each and every one of them too, it's time to get real, make fun of people, and get so gnarly bro. So yesterday I had a great day, one of the best days so far this summer. While I had to get out of bed at like 9 o'clock in the morning (I like to sleep past noon on a daily basis) it was absolutely worth it to make the most out of memorable day. We sported our swim trunks and hit the Beach, Waterpark that is, "whe...
