Never Neverland

Image
Being a teenager is all about finding your place in your world. College is all about coming into your own, defining your life the way you want to and living up to the goals and ideals you set. It's your life and no one has control over it except for you. Anything is possible , dream big and chase your dreams down to the ground. This is never Neverland. Sometimes I wonder if anyone else feels the same way as me when it comes to this whole growing up thing. I understand I'm a you g adult and I'm supposed to be conscious, mature and rational but I do 't always get that. I constantly feel like a little kid playing dress up in big people's clothes. I feel like a child playing pretend that he actually knows what he's doing. I feel out of place and that my young age (okay, I'm 19 and a half *the half is super important) shows. I don't really know where I belong or how I portray myself. Everyone else seems to just adjust, adapt and stay with it or appea...

Impact

Being a teenager is all about doing something meaningful. I've come to realize that my biggest problem with college is the fact that so much of the lifestyle on my campus centers around pointlessness. I'm like, why are we doing this? Why are things this way? Why do I even go here? I want my life to mean something, to be a small part of something larger than myself, and do make a splash. I want to be the crater that changes everything, the force to be reckoned with, and the light that shines in the darkness. I want to make an impact. You never really know the impact you have on a person or a situation. You can get little hints from facial expressions, body language, and just trying to read what's going on, but you never know the full story. Everything you say, everything you do, and all the actions in between not only have an impact on yourself but everyone else around you. You have the power to seriously brighten someone's day, or put a major damper on it. You'v...

More Than This

Being a teenager is all about looking for something more than what's offered on the surface. College can be tough because friendship can happen in the most shallow of ways. I'll admit, I've got tons of acquaintances, but very few friends that I would actually hang out with, talk to outside of class/in passing, or even eat with. It's a harsh reality. Sometimes you've got to cut the crap, and look for something more than this. More than this means wanting and striving for even more. The only place you should settle as a teen is court (as long as you're not on Jerry Spring, you're alright). Other than that, you have the right to want more, to expect better, and to demand excellence from people. That goes into every aspect of your social life. From friends, relationships, classmates, and even co-workers, they all are obligated to live up to a standard - the only catch, you're subject to that same standard. It's up to you to make it known what you exp...

Larger Than Life

Image
Being a teenager is all about pushing yourself further, and harder than you ever thought possible. What you think you're capable of, scrap that - you've got the capacity to go past that and then some. When it comes to this school year, it's all about challenging yourself and demolishing all preconceived notions. Set yourself up to be bigger, badder, and better than before - put on that persona and own it. It's time to be larger than life.   Living larger than life means extending yourself, going that extra mile, and in layman's terms "doing the most." Everyone is capable of doing that smidgen more and showing people what they're made of. In college, the most notable people on campus are the ones that get involved and make themselves known. No you don't always have to constantly assert yourself and be obnoxious with letting people know you've arrived - but if you're campus renowned, and your name get tossed around like it's a househo...
