Say Grace

Image
The 20s are all about giving thanks. Thanksgiving marks the annual holiday season. It's the beginning of the most hospitable time of the year. For just over a month, people seem to put their qualms with one another to rest, spend excessive amounts of money, and finally express their gratitude. It's when nearly everyone finds their humility, recognizes where they are, and most importantly how they got there (one hint - we've all had some help, whether we're aware of it or not ... LOL at bootstrap theory). What you give is what you get, and so we bow our heads and say grace. Let me start with a quote. " Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse" Henry Van Dyke. Thanksgiving is the one time of year that people seem to wake up from the obliviousness of just how pretty good their lives are. The thing about life is that we can easily point

Old School Status

The 20s are all about bringing out the best in yourself. When you're operating to the best of your ability, there's no limit to the things you can do. People work so much better when they are happy. It's a plain and simple fact that when you are in an environment you enjoy, you are so much more likely to get things done. Remember the olden days where life was simple? You just did  things and that was that. We're sending it back to an old school status.  *This post continues the NEACURH Regionals conference recap. Miss the first post, catch up on it here - Kickin' It Old School  and view the accompanying video post.  "Conference Run Down"   Saturday morning was a true struggle. After going to bed at 3AM, I was stuck with the daunting task of waking up at 6:45AM to get ready for the day, spirit wear, positive attitude, bright smile and all. That startup was a mess. I slapped the heck out of my alarm aka my iPhone and literally dove for it and apolo

Kickin' It Old School

The 20s are all about doing what you love and loving what you do. Everyone has that special thing that they absolutely live for and can never get enough of. When you find that thing in college, it becomes somewhat of a motivation to keep carrying on. No matter, you get to eventually do it and it literally makes your day. For me that's attending NEACURH RHA (residence hall association) conferences, and this past weekend I was more than in there. We were kickin' it old school. *Check out this accompanying vlog upload that explains all this conference lingo - you're welcome. Conference Run-Down Video  - blog post, part 1 of 2. Friday morning was me packing like nobody's business after a long night of prepping for conference making the banner, display, passive program trifold and gathering all the supplies we'd need (facepaint, decorated clothespins, swag and food). 9:30AM rolled around and that was the official time my RHA delegation, (Sam, Jaime, Tori, Lauren, D

Truth Serum

The 20s are all about being real with not only yourself but everyone around you. Everyday we wake up and put on the masks, the facades, the illusions that prep us to be perfectly put together enough to venture out in the world. What lies beneath stays there, hidden behind hours of pretending. Then those times come when you get too tired to put on your masquerade, and the truth of yourself and about other people come out. Ready or not, here comes the truth serum.   *First and foremost, if you're apart of my digital social circle you know I attended the NEACURH (RHA conference) this past weekend and my recaps are infamous. I was going to write one, but postponed it for this one. Don't worry it's coming, most likely with a new video too. Prepare yourself, we'll be kickin' it old school with those posts. The truth has a funny way of coming out and it also has a way of hurting people. Why do people lie? Why do people withhold the truth? Why do people pretend to be
