Nobody Compares

Being a teenager is all about understanding your role in the world. It's about being aware of your value and realizing that you're more than worth something. Everyone has a purpose, something that they are here to do, and it's up to you to use your life to figure out what it is, and fulfill it. I believe, each and every one of us has the capacity to change the world ... for the better. There's no one else who can replace you, nobody compares. One of the most important things I've learned from being a college student is the importance of community. Finding where you fit in, where people care about, and the place that makes you feel safe, wanted, and needed is the quest we're all (on some level) on in our college. When you've arrived at that highly desired destination - you're left with nothing more to do but find yourself. Lately, I've been seeing and reading so much envy. Don't people remember that episode of Sabrina the Teenage With when the...

Golden Forever

Image
Being a teenager is all about being content with yourself. So many people try and find gratification and meaning for themselves from other people when they should be looking within for what makes them awesome. It's like being one of the Rugrats (before they were All Grown Up) and going on adventures with yourself and not caring what other people think. It's that goofy quirkiness that makes us all similar but absolutely unique. Don't ever change, stay golden forever. Everyone talks about how much you're supposed to change in college but I beg to differ. I wouldn't say that you so much change during college, not like a Heidi Montag before and after cosmetic surgery, but that you become more you. You become more aware of who you are and when you accept it, that's when you've made progress. This year I've learned that I'm even better at everything than I previously thought, how is that possible, I don't even know. Not really, but I've learn...

Out of this World

Image
Being a teenager is all about figuring out where you belong. Coming to college has been an amazing experience for me, but there have been way too many occasions where I've totally felt out place. The staring, the weird looks, and all the awkwardness in between when you know you're standing out. Sometimes you just want to blend in with everyone else, and just be you. Time to board the rocketship, blast off, and go out of this world. Going to class means walking and you all know me and that mode of transportation, as in myself don't get along so well. Wednesday I was running a little bit late to biology lecture (as in I left for class on time instead of early #perfectionistproblems) and I get to the main street cross walk and the sign says don't walk. Literally everyone else just J-Walks, and I just stand there looking weird, and the amount of dirty looks I received was staggering. Sorry, I'm not trying to die, my life is valuable as hell, I have the potential t...

Socially Acceptable

Image
Being a teenager is all about being totally weird and completely fine with it. Let me tell you, we're all kind of a mess. I'll admit it, I may like to think I'm classically normal but who am I kidding, I'm a super freak. There's nobody else in this world like me, and that's the way it should be. If you're replaceable or nothing more than just the bland, boring, generic brand of store cereal then you'd better change your recipe to become new and improved, and brand-named. Let it be known that I don't buy off brands, icky. We've all got our quirks and our ridiculous traits, teenagedom and college are all about using them to your advantage. Forget what's socially acceptable and act the fool. Teens care so much about what other people think about them, and it prevents us from fulfilling our potential. I like to live to by the motto "It's a lifestyle" as in if you believe you only deserve the best, then you only strive for the best...
