Talk Dirty

Image
The 20s are all about defining your own rules for how you carry yourself. The current most overplayed song other than the incessant upbeat diehard peppiness that is "Happy" is "Talk Dirty." Yeah the lyrics are demeaning and crude, but that beat tho. All I'm saying is our generation may be a little freakier or down with the taboo unspeakables than we like to let on. Every once in a while you have to shake things up, keep people guessing, and explore some other parts of your personality. There's always more to each one of us than we let on. Break the ceiling (screw the room without a roof) and talk dirty. This has been the summer of the lockdown. It seems like everyone I know is getting some or someone and I'm over here just like dumbfounded at what's going on. Maybe it's something in this unfiltered water everyone keeps ranting and raving about. So let me make fun of my generation's "dating culture" as if that's a thing. I...

In the Middle

Image
The 20s are all about growing up. College is such a weird place because it serves as a microcosm of a sheltered version of the world. It's a unique place where the majority of people share your age group and have the same purpose (hopefully) in pursuing a degree. It has it's merits in that challenges you to face some of your biggest fears but also holds you back and perpetuates some unsustainable behaviors and ideals that can be dastardly if they continue into your post-grad years (binge drinking, promiscuity, drugs, procrastination and all the other vices that are so totally college). College is a place to mature and move on when (actually if) you are ever ready. Until then we're just stuck in the middle.   One of the things I've struggled with throughout the entirety of my college experience is authenticity, and not my usual melodramatic "who am I" spiel but feigning naivety for the benefit of others. I've definitely had to question whether I've ...

Something Great

Image
The 20s are all about taking a break from life. Finishing another year of school has this ambiguous feeling. You're happy you're done with having to work like a madman for a little bit but with separation means you're entire lifestyle changes for the summer. Some people get jobs, others find internships, and others still hang out, travel, or relax doing absolutely nothing. Each and everything has its merits and its flaws but summer is whatever you make of it. As long as you enjoy yourself and get what you need out of it, it's all up to you. Make it memorable, make it count, make it something great. Finally , after many a blog post I'm catching up with the digital retelling of my collegiate life with the real time of things when and how they happen. So let me bring you up to speed with the haps. Saturday was the definition of a lazy day that was long overdue and well deserved (I'm pretty sure everyone ever would agree). I slept until noon and it was oh so very...

Turn Me On

Image
The 20s are all about are all dealing with your emotions. Some people say that life is nothing more than just feelings. If it's all about relationships, then emotions are how we quantify those relationships. As a late bloomer, I can wholeheartedly say that I did not catch the teenage angsty fever until my college years. I mean hot damn, when did people start playing the game so hard (or maybe they're not trying at all and I'm just crushing hard). I didn't even discover my own set of attractive skills until probably this year. Intentionality goes a long way, and realizing you've got something to offer makes a huge difference. I guess somewhere out there someone has a crush on me. Well, I've got some too. It's just not that easy though, but turn me on anyway. When you're a mess, your streak of randomness seems to keep going. Saturday morning I woke up to fold my laundry from the previous night before hitting the town with Emma and her sorority sister,...

Sleepover in Suite 613

Image
The 20s are all about being comfortable. It's a rare pleasure these days just to find time to just be - be fully present and show up as authentically you as possible. Our surroundings constantly change and we're forced to adapt as we go, it's no wonder that we avoid change at all costs. We like the familiar and we flock to it. Sometimes it's good to indulge in it. Be some place with people you know doing something you enjoy. Everything else will change, but for a few moments, it's okay. Party over here, party over there - can I get what what? This is sleepover in suite 613. When the Suite Life of Zack and Cody ended I wasn't too turn up about it but I will never forget some of the memorable antics of Arwin, Esteban, Momma Martin, Mr. Moseby and the rest of that crazy cast (Dylan Sprouse nudes anybody and the fact that he gained over 300K followers on twitter in one night because of it ... ya nasty) always made me want to live in a hotel. While the plot was r...
