Dazed and Confused

Image
Being a teenager is all about being semi-productive over your summer vacation. You may be off of school but that does not mean it's time to completely shut down. If you're already wanting to go back to college, you must be doing something. It's only been a week or so. The whole sleeping into the early afternoon, non-showering, and never leaving the house routine can get old fast. Too much sleep is just as bad as not enough, I've learned my lesson in that department. I felt like Stiles Stilinski in that 10 minute preview clip from MTV's Teen Wolf Season 2 premiere. Time to get something done and stop being dazed and confused. How you spend your summer days is truly up to you but I suggest you get some things done while you can. You all know during the school year I was busy as hell with all my extracurriculars and the nonsense that comes with being a pre-med biology major, well somehow that extra stuff spilled over into my summer plans. It's kind of ridiculou...

Sunrise to Sunset

Image
Being a teenager is all about living the summer lifestyle. Vacation time is exactly yours with which to whatever you damn well please. If you want to sit in your filth and now shower for multiple days do it, if you want to dance to Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" clapping dollar bills into the air and grinding on a char - do it, and if you want to go cruising for chicks at the mall before noon on a weekday (you'll only get grannies) - do it. This is your time to do whatever you want, whenever you want. This is not only a vacation from school, but it's a departure from your collegiate life. Leave the dorm banter, dining hall small talk, and the professor sweet talking behind. Let's live it up, and get a whole lot of wild from sunrise to sunset. Summer is completely in full swing, that means it's our teenage duties to take the reigns and make sure this summer is one to remember. That means living by the social media rules, as in, if there isn't photograph...

Dusk Till Dawn

Image
Being a teenager is all about figuring out what to do with yourself. It's officially summer vacation and that means cruising down the streets, sun roof retracted, jamming to One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful", licking ice cream cones like you're in an episode of 9O21O. But before you get to all that, you've got to realize that this summer is different from any other. This is your first summer as a college student. There's some things you've got to know before you get rowdy, especially if you're going to be doing it from dusk till dawn. It's the inevitable question that you will be asked by anyone who hasn't seen you in a while, "how's college?" And based on the extent of your answer you can easily get through the mundane conversation, or actually get something out of it. I feel like people only ask that question, especially adults just so they can talk about their glory days (not that cancelled Glory Daze TBS show...

Aftermath

Image
Being a teenager is all about looking back. It's always funny when older people ask how old you are and say "you're too young to have gone through anything." Listen here geezer, you may be older than Methusaleh, ancient like the mummy in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and not as good looking as the "Originals" in the Vampire Diaries, but you don't know my life. It's been a long school year, that's for sure but it's finally over. Now you have to deal with the aftermath. One of the things that gets blurred in college is the concept of friendship. People think that saying "hey, how are you" in passing equals some sort of friendship. Face the facts, that's nothing more than a mere acquaintance. Someone you barely know anything about, but more than enough to not call them a strangers. If you literally never say more than a few words to this person like asking how they're doing (especially because you truly could care less) or jus...
