Strobe Lights

Image
Being a teenager is all about getting into what you you're doing. You should have passion and have fun wherever you are. It doesn't matter how trivial, or mundane something seems - there's significance if you're willing to look for it. Dig down deep, I'm a strong believer that nothing is pointless. Everything has a meaning and maybe everything happens for a reason (not the time or place to discuss my predestination). Life flashes in and out and passes you by, just try and keep up with the strobe light. Flashing , blinding, mind-numbing madness .. all words to describe the college experience. I can't believe my college saga is already 3/8 done, like I'm almost at the halfway mark. Would I say I'm pleased with what I've done so far - maybe (my standards for my life are unbelievable high and nearly unattainable), probably because I never could have imagined I'd be spending my time the way I do or knowing who I know now. I had a different picture ...

All Day, Everyday

Image
Being a teenager is all about making it through your weeks. It's about going through each and every day conscious of what you're both doing and saying. College teaches you to figure out who are and how you portray yourself, but at the end of each day asks you to reflect and look at yourself in the mirror. How do you get through it all? What does it all mean? Somehow we push on and do it - all day, everyday.  So this post, it's going to get real like soon - you just keep reading on. Let me start by talking about the chaos of being busy. It's absolutely freaking crazy. Why do we all choose this life of being constantly on the go? It's not healthy, it's not normal, and it's not helping. From classes, to clubs, to friends, and all the randomness in between, it's too much. What do we gain from it? What's the purpose of it all? Does it even matter? Ask yourself these questions and really think about them. I want you to sit and marinate on them like som...

Clock Reset

Image
Being a teenager is all about redos, revamps and do overs. It's about starting over, having another take and trying again. Sometimes, life likes to be interesting and allows you the chance to make up for your mistakes. Not always, and it's definitely a rarity, but you when you're given the opportunity to change something, you'd best take advantage of. This is your clock reset. Do any of you remember that one MTV show "If You Really Knew Me" that showed like those classic "challenge" days at high school, teenagers ugly crying, and big ass secrets coming out. I can't even lie, the premiere episode had me shivering in tears (I'm a cryer, alright - let me bawl in silence). It was just so powerful for people to stop playing games and start getting real (aka the slogan for the Real World - loves me some reality TV). From that moment on, when those kids promised to stop pretending and to actually make an effort to be conscious of people's ba...

Confessions

Image
Being a teenager is all about letting go and moving on. It's so important to think and sit on your decisions and then to follow through and stick with them. You have to bring yourself to a consensus and then let it sit well with you. Let the truth be told and let it be the irrefutable facts of the matter. These are my confessions. Confessions - just using that word makes me immediately think of Usher in his old prime or when people admit their wrong-doings to a priest (as in Annie on 9O21O when she deflowered a celibate priest to be). This week for me was all about speaking the truth and having it be heard. There's this concept as a guy to be his manly type of alpha male like all the time (Like Derek on Teen Wolf or Oliver on Arrow) like Henry Cavill in immortals - kicking arse and taking names. But when you're none of those, you don't enjoy violence, obsess about cars and express your "feelings" you're seen as unmanly. To be frank, I think that's ...

Trust But Verify

Image
Being  a teenager is all about taking in the world around you. It's about seeing everything and taking it for what it is. It's about analyzing, being critical, and trying to piece together the whole story. It's up to you form your own opinion and to be vulnerable at your own risk. The world is a cruel place, and things are never what they appear be. The truth of the matter is you can never know everything this is to know about anyone. But you have to try and make your own judgements. Trust but verify.   Lately , I've noticed just how critical these blog posts have become, but I know it's because it's a representation of whatever I'm going through. I'll try to lighten up, but at least for now I'm not having any of it. Trust - probably the single most important word in my opinion. You trust people to protect you, love you, and to do whatever it takes to keep you in tact. You trust God or whatever your religion you put your faith in. You expect peopl...
